2024 Races:
Date - September 15, 2024. The date is a few weeks after Hood 2 Coast and a few weeks before the Portland Marathon. Use this race as a warm up for the Portland Marathon, to test your fitness after Hood 2 Coast, or just because running a race in boring sounds like fun.
Race start times - The marathon starts at 6:30 AM, the half marathon at 7:30 AM and the 8K at 8:30 AM, all at Boring Station Trailhead Park just off SE Dee St. in downtown Boring (See map above). We incorporate a free kids run (same day registration only), held at 9:45 AM. Marathoners expecting to finish in over 6 hours may start early - but are not required to.
Time limit - We don't limit the finishing time and walkers are certainly welcome. However, because we run part of the races along public roads, aid stations and volunteers at intersections are stopped after 6 hours. We will stay at the finish line until all runners come in and nobody will be disqualified due to time, but we do offer an early start time of 5:30 am for those who will take more than 6 hours.
Registration - Use the link above to go to www.runsignup.com to register. Registration will stay open until 11:59 am on September 12th. We will NOT have day of race registration this year. There is no guarantee of a shirt with any registration after August 11th, but everyone will get a nice bib and a finishers medal.
There will be discounts for early registration and return Boring runners in the marathon and half marathon from last year. Members of Marathon Maniacs, Half Fanatics, the 50-States Marathon Club, Eastwind Running and Endurance Club, and students/faculty of Sam Barlow High School and Damascus and Orient Middle Schools can get discounts on the marathon and half marathon by contacting the race director at (can you guess it?) racedirector@boringmarathon.com for a discount code. We will check current membership before providing discount codes. Prices go up every other month, so don't wait to register.
Boring Sister City of Dull, Scotland - any resident of Dull, Scotland, gets free registration (but you pay the travel).
Limits - Marathon - 120 participants, Half - 230, 8K - 150. Once these numbers are reached, that race will close. This is not a big city race, so don't expect large crowds. But it will be a quality event.
Refunds - Like other races, we DO NOT offer refunds once you are signed up. We can't do deferrals either, so if you sign up and can't make it due to injury, run-ins with farm animals, flying wheels, tripping on lug nuts, or other strange things that can happen, we are sorry. Once we order everything like medals, food, toilets, bibs, etc we are on the hook for it.
Changing races - If you need to change races, please contact the race director before September 1. There is no refund for the difference in cost of the race if changing distances.
